    Default Epidendrum ciliare

This is a very widespread species of orchid, ranging from Mexico, throughout the Caribbean and parts of South America. The flowers range from 2 inches to nearly four inches, depending on the cultivar, and are strongly night-fragrant (the smell not unlike that of B. nodosa). This is an unusual Epidendrum in that the plant has pseudobulbs and very much resembles a bifoliate Cattleya when out of bloom. Mature plants can bloom several times a year...whenever a new growth matures, it throws a spike. The pictured flowers are 3.5 inches from top to bottom.

Culture is very similar to a labiate Cattleya - good light, reasonably frequent moisture, warm temps, reasonably frequent fertilizing (I sprinkle nutricote time release pellets on the medium).

    Excellent piccies(as per normal).

Blooms remind me of Artic Turns.

Prem, one of these days you're going to have to post a deliberately bad picture--just to shock everybody! Those are really nice....

Louis, I've taken many bad pictures in my past and still continue to take some bad ones along with the good ones. I just don't ever show off the bad ones.
