Recently my Epicattleya rene marques put out a new growth, but before it was even a half inch long it became black, dry and left only a crater where it was growing. It then began to produce another new growth after this, and lo and behold - the same thing happened. It's begining yet ANOTHER growth (it's obviously on a mission) and I'm afraid this will happen again if I don't get to the bottom of it. I am summering it outside in almost full texas sun - do you think the new growths are just getting scorched to death? The leaves aren't burnt at all, though many of them have deep red blush.
