Default I guess its always spring somewhere...

I forgot my camera at my house in Cape Town this weekend... have been burning to take some pics, so I fetched it... in return my orchids decided to go crazy while I left them alone for 6 hours

Have many cats with flower buds looks like a green bean farm

These two pots are grown together... If I put the bigger one flat, the smaller pot hangs in the air... I counted 6 buds... they were not there yesterday.. or at least very small if they were...

Also another one has been pushing flowers all week, i expect it to be open any time soon... No I dea what it is though... but I am anqious to get it over and done with, as the soil it is in will kill it before it ever sees another season.
Actualy any rough ID would be welcome.. even just of the basic family group it fits into, so that I can research best conditions for it...

So far of the 80+ orchids I repotted, only 3 looks less happy... the others are starting to show lots of new growth and roots...

Also go tmy first "own" chid... it was a bit haggard, bu tlooked the best of the bunch in the shop.
A South African orchid that grows to 1 tonne plants... the size of small cars
    Mine is a baby still

Please excuse the mess.. we are still moveing in... The cat's name is Lala... I gave him to my dad as a baby and now I got him back again... He was my favourite kitten of that litter, and I gave him up with great difficulty.

Another couple of flowers that came out while I was out
From the same plant as that beautiful white and purple flower in my first post...

Finaly not a chid, but still beautifull and just bloomed this week

Cheerio till later... I will be posting more spring buds soon to warm your cold winter hearts..

Hi Gin, it stays a fine plant though.. just imagine a big bush of those reeds....
It is called Ansellia Africana.. mine is the Caprivi "type"
They seem to differ from plant to plant in flowers though.. i.e. they don;t have uniform stripes from plant to plant... I picked the one I liked best.
Something interesting about them is that they aslo grow roots upwards to catch leaves with. Also, it is the only species in the genus Ansellia

My baby flower is getting ready to spend his first night out there.. well actualy it is twin flowers now...

Isn't it beautifull... its the size of my hand... and I have large hands due to studying classical guitar at school.

THe frill is also awesome... definatly my favourite cat so far even though I ma be biased...

Also note how the red stripeing in the throat does not extend through the yellow bit like in other purpuratas.

Oh I forgot to say the Ansellia has a loveley fragrance..

The second orchid, the 'mystery' one, looks like a Bifrenaria to me. I would love to see more pictures once it is in bloom! Congratulations, your orchids look very happy!

Good job caring for all those plants and successfully so, apparently!
Your cat looks beautiful and a lot like mine (from what I can see of him ... )

    Thanks all.
Look!!!! the cat in the pot above the large catt opened... it is a little smaller... the flower being about 50% the size of the large one, and much more slender... it is still at least 2 to 3 times the size of mini catt flowers.

Also the "banana plant" (for lack of knowing its real name and it looking like planted bananas) is just about to open

Speaking of banana... my fake banana tree is in flower too... magnificent flower, probably wider than my shoulders are appart.
