Chained to a post? Has it tried to escape before? Seriously, that is a beautiful bonsai.

I went to a local Bonsai nursery and the owner let me snap some photos. According to her this particular one is about 30 years old. And yes, it chained on the post.

It's obviously trying to escape from its pot for the last 30 years...no wonder it's chained!
Poor chained thing.... lol. I really like bonsai trees. I had a friend in Charlottesville that grew bonsai trees and had a nice collection. I wish I would have taken photos of his place. He also raised fish in landscaped ponds and had the bonsai trees intermixed with other eastern decoration. It was beautiful. He and his wife split up and I am not sure what happened to all of his beautiful trees.
Cheers,
BD
beautiful! Wish I had the patience to do one
I love bonsai! Cool pictures marissa. I tried bonsai once in college; we did a workshop in hort club that involved making bonsai...but its pretty hard. It requires thinking about how you want the plant to look in the future, and staking and trimming and all this thought, I was like, I could never be a good bonsai pruner!! I can barely to get myself to stake my orchids, let alone a tree.
Yep, they are pretty interesting and beautiful. I almost buy one but I know nothing about them. Just admiring their beauty would not be enough for me to keep them alive.
I think it was chained to prevent it from getting stolen.
I love bonsai! But I killed the only one I ever had....I think I'm more of an orchid person. =)
I love bonsai too. Have some ficus and have just picked up a mangrove seedling hoping to train it. We will see.
