Outstanding fotos. Do the grasshoppers bother your orchids also? And if so what do you do about it?
Cute pics, I remember growing up in our province, we used to catch those big grasshoppers and they kick you with their hind legs (the way horses kick) and it hurts because the bottom part of the legs are serrated.
Praying Mantis just creeps me out for some reason so I never bothered them.
Awesome pic of the grasshopper, you must have an amazing camera!! Thanks for posting these!!
We used to pick up the praying mantis....they are cool. Great pics! I'm backwards of the other person, I dont like the grasshoppers on me. They bite! Also, they ate the top of one of my Vandas awhile back.

hi ischel,
yeah, the hoppers can be a pain in the butt! the big one i posted usually feeds only on the big palm tree, no problem for me coz its big.
the little ones try themselfs on my chids, they manage to chew on younger shoots and cut em right tru in 1 night.
what do i do about it? its difficult, coz i love animals and i wanna see em also among my chids, so i try to shoo em off, especially mornings when its colder and they are still in dreamland. lol
occasionally i have to kill a stubborn bastard, may the gods forgive me for that.
