Default vanda hybrid with "birds of paradise"

    hi forum,

yesterday i bought a few new plants in leyte, its supposed to be a hybrid of vanda and birds of paradise.
i got 2 of those a few months ago and they grow like the "birds" and leaves look exactly like em.
all the while i thought i was scamed until yesterday when i saw the complete plant and couldn't resist to buy more!
the flowers come in different colors and look exactly like vanda's, i didn't bring my camera, but im sure you would know both species.

i asked the seller (his english was poor) and thats all i got out of him, but he called this new hybrid "tyrus" (spelling?), but i couldnt find anything on it, any clue???

    so here is my question,
has anybody heard of such a strange hybrid???

    thanks,

I think a photo is needed, from your description and knowing Vandas & Birds Of paradise plant ( Strelitzia ) ( spelling ) its an impossibility to cross the 2.

    ok,
here is 2 pix from those plants freshly planted in my garden, but as i said you would know the birds of paradise and i just have to wait for the flower, maybe 1 year?
the ones i saw where already bigger with an exact replica of any common vanda in various colors.

I think I'm right in saying, thats not an orchid. Its a garden type plant.

No chance of crossing a vanda with a bird of paradise. Would be kinda like trying cross a cat and a dog. The genetics just won't allow it. Sounds like a clever marketing ploy to me.

    hi stephen,

im also still doubtful, i just wonder how could this guy create a plant? and there was nothing attached to it, me and my girlfriend checked the stem and all and it was complete.

well, worst case scenario, i got myself some "birds", which i like anyway.
