These orchid photos are not very good, but I wanted to share one of my favorite paphs (not because of it's real name - BTW) lol. I did not take it off of the shelf to photograph it and there are lots of dead spikes around. (What a mess!) Anyway, this plant has won a couple of first place ribbons at some shows for us and has become one of my favorite paphs. We gave it the clonal name 'RVO Bruce's Delight' because of how happy it always makes me when it is in bloom. Anyhoo..., please forgive the sad photography and messy grow area and please enjoy
Paphiopedilum Spiderman 'RVO Bruce's Delight'
(Paphiopedilum Michael Koopowitz x Paphiopedilum adductum)
It would have looked much better had I staked it when it was developing. Hopefully it will open on up and look decent.
Cheers,

wwwwwwwooooooooowwwwwwww
great great colors and shape
i love it-great long petals too
I think I admire rothschildianum, philippinense & sanderianum, and their crosses more than any other paphiopedilums. Taking Michael Koopowitz, a cross of the latter two of the above three, and crossing it onto adductum (a species having a similar, if simpler, flower to sanderianum) has resulted in a most pleasing-to-the-eye flower, and I can see why it's your favourite Paph, Bruce, and also why it has won you a few ribbons. A 'Delight' indeed!
Cheers,
Rob
That is beautiful, I can see why its a favourote of yours Bruce. I love the colours and stripes.
Beautiful! The petal 'shoulder' seems to be the main influence of the adductum parent which is wonderful as far as the flower shape goes.
Now I wish mine would bloom already!
Beautiful Bruce.
What a gorgeous cross. It's easy to see why it makes you happy.
Thanks for the nice compliments, everyone!
I always love to see it bloom. It is the first plant we got a ribbon on in a show (before it even had the name Paph Spiderman). When properly watered and staked, it really looks stately and elegant. This blooming is a bit floppy because of the weight of the blooms compared to the spike. Another reason to stake orchid spikes from the time they start developing. That way, you can be sure to have a beautiful display.
Thanks, everyone, for looking!
Cheers,
BD
Absolutely stunning Bruce! Majestic flowers, bodacious petals! Who wouldn't be proud of a beauty like that.
