    Default Conflict on purple leaves....

    Hi all,

My nanna gave me her orchid after she learned I got my mums to spike again (yay!) I have heard conflicting view on whether the purple leaves mean too much or too little light. It's not just the undersides or the edges, its everywhere. More concentrated in some areas compared to others but on the whole looks more purple than green lol. Thoughts?

    It's too much light.

Production of the red pigment (anthocyanin) is the plant's response to HIGH light levels. Much like a tan in humans.

I have a couple of purple catts with red leaves that seems to grow and bloom like crazy!

Lol I will keep it with my other phals. She must have had it right up against a south window. Thank you

Danny, post a photo of the purple leaves for others to see. I agree with Clint, but it would benefit future readers of the thread to see a photo. (If you can do so.)

    Cheers,
    BD
