    Default Phalaenopsis with yellowing leaves!!

    Please help!

I have read the books and don't know what's going on with my phalaenopsis amabilis and other phal.......they live in my East facing home office room and receive light and I have a fan for circulation. (re-sizing photos for posting)

My phal amabalis has two plants in one pot and both plants had multi stems with many blooms/buds when I bought it. It has been green and well and after the blooms were finished, cut it at the noids and it started to bud again. As the photo shows, one has spikes and buds.....

The plant that has the yellowing leaves has one spike that seems to be growing from the noid.....

It is planted in orchid mix bark and I've taken care to do my best not to overwater but this strange yellowing, dimpling of the leaves....don't know what this is....!!!

    HELP!!

If you run your fingers under the leaves do they come back with yellow or orange color on them? You may have tiny bugs under the leaves. You may want to look up the information section on bugs...often one of us has had it and others shared how to get rid of them. If you can't find what you need post a picture. A picture will help to diagnose what is going on with your orchid.
    Good Luck...

Is the side with the yellow leaf closest to your window/light source? To me it appears to be too much light on those two leaves.

Actually no, the leaves that are yellowing are the "behind" plant to where the window light comes from....the front plant with the buds is usually closest to the light.

The window has wide wood blinds and they are only ever partially opened, just for light, because we keep them semi-closed for security of the computers etc.

To me the plant looks stressed, but what's causing it doesn't look immediately obvious. I'm not so sure it is a good thing to have the two plants together in one pot. Competition could be adding to the stress. Also the energy needed for blooming will contribute to stress. What is the condition of the roots? I would suggest cutting the spike off and separating the plant from the other one so you can give it some individual attention and better assess the condition of the root system.

Thanks, I'm going to pull the "sick" one out first to see if I cann save it but I agree, I will check the healthier one out and sacrifice the buds.....I'm sure there will be more!

Sounds like a good plan. I bet it has something to do with the roots.

    Good luck!

Good luck with it, I hope it is 2 plants in 1 pot, but if its just 1 plant, it may just be shedding old leaves as it gears up 2 produce new vegegative growth...
