This is a European native that was introduced into US, about 3 hours west of here. It can now be found in New England and Eastern Canada along with NY, Ct and NJ. It is growing along the path to my pond..Plant stands about 12" tall

You are so fortunate to have these growing near your pond. Next weekend I will be out of the city and hopefully will get to do some hiking in NY and CT. I will keep my eyes open and hope to see some of these. Thank you for sharing!

That is beautiful, I love the fact its growing in your garden, I would love to live somewhere that I could have wild orchids growing in my garden, even to be able to grow some hardy orchids would be good but I live in a heavily built up area with a very small yard. If my health would allow I would go on an orchid hunt to try and find natives but my legs would probably not handle it LOL they seem to grow here where they are undisturbed which usually means quite a trek to find them.
