Kenner, your math is right, and that should work just fine.

I have some 10-5-5 dyna-gro fertilizer left over when I had orchids in bark. Now I have everything in s/h. Can I mix equal parts of the 10-5-5 with the Dyna-gro bloom 3-12-6 to get a 6 1/2-8 1/2-5 1/2 blend that would be an all purpose fertilizer for my chids? I think my math is right. What do you think?
Thanks, Kenner

Sheesh I am way behind!!!!!! Can someone explain the "math" to me or where I can get info on it and read up?
Add both N amounts & then divide by 2 , same for the other 2.
Just average it out? are there any worries with different proportions of the nutrients mixing and reacting, or cancelling?
by the way, forgive my ignorance, but what does s/h stand for?
S/H = semi hydro. Search on the site here for more info. There is a great thread that show exactly how to put an orchid in S/H and we keep it updated with how the plant is growing. I believe it has been going for over a year now.Originally Posted by wogga
