Default Air conditioner water for orchids

    Hi,

I could swear I've read somewhere here on the forum that water drippings from the airconditioner is also good for orchids for a number of reasons. But I cannot find that thread anywhere.

Does anyone knows something about this? I'm curious, because I live in the caribbean so airconditioning are constantly on here......so from that kind of water I have plenty.

sinceit is pulled from the air, no chemicals polute the water, like chlorine from a city water system. I use water from a dehumidifier on my orchids. That would be thesame as airconditioner water, pulled from the air. It would not add any minerals to your 'chids, though.

Seems like it would be fine, but like Cindi said - is seems you would need to add mineral supplements since the water would have little to none.

    Cheers,

I do not think it would be appropriate to use the water from the air conditioner. The cooling coils of AC are made from alloys of copper, aluminum and steel. The water vapour from the air cools on these condenser coils, this water is very soft and corrosive and it will slowly dissolve these metals. So if you can test the water for these metals please do it before using it. Metal poisoning can be a serious issue.

Thank you guys, I think will just keep using tap water and wait for the rain season to get some rainwater.

Thank you for taking time to answer my question.
