    Default New Catts - after repotting

    I went to an orchid sale hosted by Houston Orchid Society. All orchids were priced very very well, so I didn't feel too bad spending the money

    I bought 5 huge catts: all of them are in 14" basket that need repot badly. Since all of them are in spike/sheath, so I tried not to "bother" them too much:

    Blc Dennis Kone 'Lakeview' AM/AOS. It has 3 spikes developiing. The plant was growing all directions and all tangled, so I divided into 3 baskets, one into 14", 2 into 5" baskets;
    Lc Coastal Reality 'Lucky' AM/AOS. It needs repot, but I ran out media, so it will be next weekend's job;
    Catt - name to be sorted out. It didn't have any tag when I bought it, but found the tag during repotting. Tag only has a number to reference to a real name. I will contact people to figure it out. I divided it into 2, one into 14", one into 6" baskets;
    C. Chocolate Drop 'Kodoma' x Bc De'esse 'Cartes', shown on the 1st picture. This one is badly infected by scales, so I treated it and repotted it into a new 14" basket.
    Blc Golden Pumelo 'Ching Hua', shown on the 2nd picture. I tried to put into a 16" basket, but didn't fit. So I had to run out to get a 24" basket. I was shocked when cashier told me that it costs $35 as 14" one is only $6.

    I have extra Dennise Kone. Once it settles in the new basket, we can trade, even though I have never shipped any orchids before.

    Hey Liz, check out this orchid article: DIY ORCHID HANGING BASKET Maybe it will help you when it comes time to divide again.

    Looks like a great bunch of orchids!

    Cheers,

    Thank you, BD! I will see if I can get my DH to build me some. I found out today that I have never used a plier before when I tried to put hanger on.

    I would add in a little mesh wire to the bottom of the basket for cattleyas that are to be potted in a bark mix too, Liz. I hope your DH will build some for you. Just think, that 35 bucks that you would have spent on the next pot can go to an additional orchid .

    Cheers,
    BD
