I would like to make my own potting mixes, but the local nurseries don't have the supplies. So I looked around the pet stores and found 3 sizes of Fir Bark chips, Coco Husk chips, activated charcoal, and crushed oyster shells. Are all these ok to use for potting mixes?
Dana
Hi Dana -
That should be fine to use, but be sure to clean it very well. Try soaking the supplies for several hours and then rinsing them. Then soak again and rinse again. This should clean the materials so that you can make your own mix. Best of luck to you.
Cheers,
BD
