I was not sure where to put this but there has been a terrible disaster in manilla and surrounding areas and I know we have members from that area, they have had a severe monsoon that hs caused major and devastating flooding that has displaced nearly half a million people and the known death toll stands at 86 as of now, please send all your thoughts and prayers to the people struggling at this time and remember if anyone over there gets to see this, we are all with you and hope for a speedy return to normality.

hi, im still in manila, but things getting back to normal, slowly. i've never experienced anything like it and we were lucky to be on the 5th floor and the area wasnt so affected then others.
only the next day i saw what really happened and realized how lucky i was.
thanks carrie and others, for being thoughtful of all the victims here!
Your welcome Ron, I cant believe the pictures of the area affected, I really cant imagine such a awful event and natural too, they said on the news people are calling it the 100 year rain and I hope that it doesn't happen again for at least another 100 years, I am so lucky living where I do that we do not experience any real extremes of weather. Just wanted those affected and those close by to know I was thinking of them at this terrible time. I am glad to hear you are safe and that you weren't too badly affected, here is to hoping we hear off some of our other Phillipino members.
I've been watching on the news. It's terrible. And my first thought was for our members from the Philippines, and Manila in particular.
Ron, I'm so glad you're safe. Now let's hope for news from the others soon.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone there.
I have just read that the death toll has risen to 140, this is awful and there is nothing that can be done to prevent these things. I so hope all our members are safe and well and their familys also.
Oh I hope all of our friends and their families are okay. Thanks Carrie for letting us know.
Cheers,
BD
The news is getting worse. There's another big storm approaching (or over) the Philippines now, and they're worried about yet more flooding.
Please keep everyone in your prayers. If you've never gone through something like this, you have no idea how devastating it is, and how long it takes to recover. We are four years in after Hurricane Wilma, and our building repairs are finally complete. And yes, it took all this time to get it done.
My heart goes out to those who have suffered such awful loss.
thanks Carrie for this thread. I was just thinking of how to communicate with all our members at once. Glad you started this.
Ron, I am very relieved to know that you are well, I hope that you may help people there, somehow. I was thinking much of you since I heard from the bad news.
nelson, I know you're ok. Hope people who is related to you is the same. And I was also glad to know about you, yesterday.
My thoughts and my heart are united to all of you and your people.
I hope all our friends in the Philippines are well... prayers and well wishes goes out to all.
