Bulbophyllum carunculatum

I received this bulbophyllum back in August bare root with two spikes. Things "seemed" to be going well and over the past 10 days one of the spikes turned brown so I removed it. I just thought it blasted or the trauma of repotting caused its demise.... not happy about it but it is what it is. The other spike seems to be OK but will it ever open revealing a beautiful flower????? And is this (2nd picture) a new PB or another flower spike.....

cant answer the first question, but second looks like a new growth to me, in any case positiv!

It is a nice species! You will like it. Getting it bare root and in spike was a problem for the spikes. Only time will tell if that spike will bloom. Your new growth will though when mature! Don't keep this one overly shaded. I give mine a few hours of sunshine a day. Phal light will be fine. My recent post labeled concolor is most likely a carunculatum.

Thanks Ron. I have noticed the few Bulbophyllum that I have seem to do better with a little more light and they seem to put out more roots growing in moss rather than bark. How do you feel about moss vs bark?

Last month at our society meeting I was somewhat brain-dead and got another one... it's the smaller plant to the right of the picture. With compromised bench space in the GH, I would like to sell/trade this one in the spring....

i know you meant my twin bro, but you raised a good question also for me.
i experienced the same, moss brings out much more roots, funny thing is they dont bloom as frequent as the mounted and much more drier ones.
bulbo's really can take some light, more than phal's, some of mine getting direct sunlight for 2-3 hours during midday!
