    Default spike or root?

    Hello! I've posted a picture of an orchid I purchased about a year ago. It didn't have a spike when I got it.

    Is this the beginning of a flower spike or just another root growing out?

    I have spiked out alot of phals in the last couple years....that my friend is a spike you are growing! Great job...now with patience it'll flower in a couple months.

    Okay, great! Thanks for the replies! I got this orchid one day at at the grocery store in really poor condition (it was on sale for $5). I re-potted/fertilized and it seems to be doing well now.
    I'll post photos of it in bloom.
