I got this about 2-3 weeks ago, its already in bloom.... but it blooms
sequentially. The bloom doesn't last long, only for 2-3 days, after that another
one is ready to open.
Anyways, i was told this is the dwarf form.

That's a nice form of Arundina graminifolia,Randy. This orchid is very common in Peninsular Malaysia and throughout South-east Asia and grows from the lowlands to about 2000m altitude. One will be able to see hordes of this orchid, with their very attractive, cattleya-like flowers, on the embankments and cuttings by the roadside on any drive up to the hill stations in Malaysia.
They are grown in many gardens right out in the open, exposed to the sun.
The one you have is most probably a lowland type. I am trying to grow one in my garden. Hope it adapts to the lowland conditions. A friend of mine has a clump growing in his garden and he has blooms non-stop the whole year round.
Very nice, Randy! I love the bloom on this guy!
Cheers,
BD
beautiful flower and such a delicate plant.
thanks glad you liked it. Actually I was hoping I'd get the one that grows up to 2m high,
but i was told that it wont do well in the lowlands. Im growing this outdoors exposed to
full sun from 9am-5pm.
thanks for looking.
Thanks Randy. I've the one that is 2m tall. Now I've to look for the short one.
hi randy,
i didnt know there was a dwarf form, but nice! colors seems a bit more lighter than usual.
i think you should try the longer variety, mine is doing fine, just no blooms yet...
thank ron, i will get the tall one when i can find one that would fit my car..... the one i
saw is about 2.5m tall.
I like yours. Mine is very happy near the beach and grown and bloom like crazy. I'm going to there next weekend and I'll take some pics. they are in full sun most of the time and enjoy it a lot. mine is darker than yours. congrats.
Thanks Rosalia.
