Some flasks are my crosses, some were given to me by another grower. Most of the compot seedlings are my crosses. Can't wait to see those flowers and hope not to be too old and grey by then. [ATTACH][ATTACH]Name: Seedlings 1 (Small).JPG

Very nice with all your flasks. It is something I've always wanted to do...got as far as crossing some of my phals and getting pods but then dropped the ball... so I do admire your skill and obvious success. When you "seed" your flasks, do you have a "special place" or some kind of linear airflow hood... ? For me that was one of my stumbling blocks... then, of course, the time... talk about being old and gray... dudley, I've got you beat in this area!

I use a fish tank on its side and seal off the open end. It works great as a glovebox. Of course I work in a hospital pharmacy so I have lots of practice at aseptic technique. It's still not a hard thing to do. I still have lots of failures. I only greenpod. I haven't had any luck with sterilizing seed.

Thanks Jeff. Don't mean to drift too far from your original thread but for a brain-dead ED doc, "greenpod"???? I will assume you harvest the pod before it turns brown and hard, then you open it and deposit seed on your agar? And for agar, do you make your own brew or purchase commercial stuff, do you use a pressure cooker or some device to sterilize jars/media? Just how "sterile do you do all of this?
