Dear Matt,
thanks for your reply again. my plants are on a table beside the sliding door to the balcony - i live in an apartment. i have 2 40w grow lights above the plants. the balcony is facing west. the floor board heat is just below the table which i thought would provide good heat. the thermostat is set at 60. i thought even 55 is ok for phals?
is bleach so damaging? i use very diluted mix. ok, i have to find another way then. so far i cannot tell what damage has been done unless i take the plant out of the pot. the flowers are developing, still just tiny buds. the plants are also grwoing new roots. good signs?
possibly poor air circulation could be part of the (mold) problem. maybe use a fan near where you have your orchids.
how often do you water?
i only use bleach as a sterilizing agent(on pots, and tools), not as a treatment.
i use neem oil(insect control), physan(after deviding and repoting), and occasionally rubbing alcohol(for scale) to treat my plants.
good luck.
