Bulbophyllum Question

I don't mean to slight anyone with this question but for those Bulbophyllum aficionados, are B. deari, blumei and masdevalliaceum really three different flowers or what? They all look so similar for species orchids.... maybe my eyes are in need of some major optical assistance!!!!! The reason I as is because I have recently acquired these and the masdevalliaceum is in flower and looks so similar to the other two.... so what's the consensus?

Just an update from my research.... I found this statement which I have excerpted from the document: "Bulbophyllums, maxillare, ciliatum and masdevalliaceum are all synonyms of this species." Bulbophyllum blumei | Orchids Online. What do you think of this?????

I've always liked the pics of B. blumei & masdevalliaceum. Never seen either one in person though. Any scent to the masdevalliaceum, Howard?

None that I could tell but I didn't stick my nose in the flower... and BTW, aren't you supposed to be in class today??????

Don't know but I would guess some scientific type couldn't leave his ego at the door. This whole thing with changing names randomly is too much for me.... so it is Cirrhopetalum yesterday and Bulbophyllum today and tomorrow....??????? I want a genus named after my first dog, a wonderfully crazy Irish Setter named Bones... well, how about that....

Carl Ludwig Blume described the plant first but the scientific name doesn't fit to its description.
John Lindley suggested a name later which best describes the plant.
What made it into Bulbophyllum maxillare was the flower which looked like a Maxillaria orchid and this was originally published 1843 as Cirrhopetalum maxillare although the flower is not similar to Cirrhopetalum group.
Those are the works of the plant taxonomists, keeping on eye of its descriptions.
I have the same plant too at home and this plant is only found in a certain range in the Philippines and Sabah-Borneo.

In my own opinion, I'd like to named this plant to Bulbophyllum blumei because Carl Ludwig Blume was the first to discover and describe this plant specie.

Ask Jim Cootes for more details about Bulbophyllums, he is a lot an expert of that.
