Wow what a lot of micranthum! I can't grow them here - too hot. Shouldn't you be able to grow them in Hong Kong with a cooler winter? I saw one in my son's collection in the New Territories in January but not blooming then. Now I wonder if he has ever bloomed it.
Cool winter is not enough for these guys, summer here is very hot too. I guess they don't grow well in very hot weather. One can buy them in bloom in summer, they may keep it alive for a couple of years or so, but without artificial cooling the plant may never bloom again until it dies.
Those are very nice canh. I always suspect that there might be a large farm in China or Vietnam where they grow micranthum and armeniacum like vegetables...lol! They arrive here in boxes!
Very sweet species, I love this one as Yew said very hot here after 2 to 4 months all the leaves become black.
I have one photo to share with you too.
I love those shots. Would love to see that in person some day.
Cheers,
BD
wow i wish i have the conditions for them.... they are just lovely.
Thanks for sharing!
Yes few micrathums can be grown to bloom again so far in Guangzhou or Hongkong. The one I posted here not long ago had been succeeded in challenging its first summer in Guangzhou. A micranthum researcher told me micranthum is distributed in altitude between 1000-1500m. Those from lower altitudes will be more easy-going.
