How big is your sanderianum?
Thanks, LJA I got your PM regarding sanderianum.
D'oh! I didn't know you had asked me the question in here too.
Anyway, leafspan is about 21 inches and it still hasn't bloomed.
Sigh.....
Your sanderianum should be very close to blooming size if it has two new growths showing. Lucky you, no looong wait for you, mine is still a long ways from maturity.
Ah, gorgeous. I have a small selfing of 'Dark Tower' that is still in its "barely grow until X leafspan in size" mode. The only flower I had seen of this cross was not very good, but now I have new hope.
I saw an article a while back in the AOS Bulletin featuring the owner of the "world-record holder" Paph. sanderianum. The guy remarked that the petals were very shiny from a distance and he observed some flies in his greenhouse (non-native, of course) circling up the petals...spawning a theory that perhaps this happens in situ. Interesting idea...I have no idea what really happens. Someone out there must know what type of critter pollinates the long petalled phrags and paph. sandy.
Hey, Jason!
Nice to see you here! I didn't know you also had the same Dark Tower. Hope you stick around and post some of your beauties.
Interesting AOS article.
Thanks, Pete! You gave such a good recommendation that I had to come check it out. I think I'll have pictures of that 'Dark Tower' selfing ready...in about 5-7 years, and that's assuming it flips the switch into "grow" mode soon.
Wow! That's one of the most interesting orchids ever!
That surely is one happy paph!
So, what ever happened w/ that lindenii of yours? hmmm???Originally Posted by Paphraguy
