Gin, did you just take this pic? Am wondering how long the blooms last on this one, since it hasn't been used much for hybridizing.
Didn't know you were into Catt species!

It opened yesterday , I have read the flowers do not last long , probably why it is not used much , I have a C. warneri that has been in bloom over a month 2 big flowers .. beginning to think it is petrified . I have a few specie Catts . and most of the broughtonias Gin
Nice Cattleya.
actually there is a common hybrid of c. skinneri that is very popularly grown in the Philippines
it is C. labiata x skinneri that is grown in our place. Our neighbor had this plant for about 25 years already.
I wish i could have a c.skinneri
Good growing Gin!
I bough one last year but it hasn't bloomed for me yet
It did produce a sheath that dried up and never bloomed.
It has a nice big new growth now so hopefully I'll see some flowers this year.
I love the species Catts . once they start to bloom they seem to be reliable . the one in the picture has new growths with sheaths don't know if it will bloom again or not , the blooms did last quite awhile .
Rence I will have to look for the one you mentioned . Gin
Just asked the seller if they had .
Another common hybrid is Cattleya labiata x bowringiana
I do not know the name given....
Thanks for the info. and for checking . I have one named C. labiata tipo not bloomed yet . Gin
