I don't know how different they may be, but I got a red strand and a blue strand to test.

I'll preface my question with...i'm not an electrician or botanist so this may sound like a dumb question...but here I go anyways. I see they are advertising the new l.e.d. christmas strand lights. Are those led lights the same as the gro light panel lights?? If so, why couldn't you buy strands and just wind them around your shelving and along the top for added light in the wintertime? Would it work or are these l.e.d. lights somehow different?? Just wondering...

Connie, I'm not a expert either. But from what I have read on line, there are a couple of different types of LED grow lights. Some have a higher light output than others. I would think that the christmas lights would be the lower output type of light ? I think that is why you can see a big difference in pricing on some of the LED set ups. I always like to really dig up reviews on this type of stuff. I would hope someone who knows about these would give us some good information on these. Have Fun,Rich
I looked for strings with C7 bulbs. For the plants, isn't it a C5 or larger bulb that works well?
Good questions. I look forward to learning more about LEDs and what output plants will need from them. It would be really cool if the strands would work, but I would guess they are not strong enough to really do much. (But I am only guessing. Hope someone who uses LED lights as grow lights will comment.)
Cheers,
BD
I just purchased 2 led grow lights. If you look at the spec. You will see their are so many blue bulbs and red they are not equal amounts. I think their are 251 bulbs in a 1.5 square foot area. Each square is only 13 watts. I have just started to expermint with 3 plants.my start date was nov.15. I am not sure it will work? If it doesn't work i will add the leds to my normal lighting arrangement. I think the combined lighting will make a perfect arrangement.
What is strange, when you try to get information on LED growers with results. Most of the articles are from cannabis growers ! It would be nice if there were other types of information out about this subject. I have read many of those articles, not that I'm going to be a cannabis grower. Maybe many years ago go I might have thought about it, how did Archie Bunker put it, "Those were the Days ! " LOL 420 no more. Where ever did that lingo came from. Have Fun, Rich
