Wonderful pics Yew, the V. Genting Delight is my pic of the bunch. Thats a great orchid.
The P. philippinense is a hybrid, not a straight philli.

Thanks Roy for pointing out the mistake re the ID of Paph philippinense. There was no tag that I could see and the name was given to me by an official on duty.

I was actually waiting for your reaction to the picture of V Genting Delight seeing that you do have some fantastic vandas. I don't think the picture does it justice. It really is a fantastic vanda. It is the best I have seen in years and I must say I have seen quite a few in my time. However I'm not so sure about the name, though. It was given to me by the vendor who sold it to the present owner just before it was registered for competition in the show.He didn't want to disclose the amount paid for the plant but said it was enough to persuade him to part with it, even though he had earmarked it for breeding.

Totally agree with you an Ian that the bellina is gorgeous. Am now on the lookout for a really good bellina. Was offered one with 'blue' centre instead of purple for RM30 (US $9) but the shape wasn't round enough. So still considering whether to buy it or not.
Good on you to get all these beautiful vandas at a bargain price!
I believe that the blue form of the bellina would be rare, however it's true that flower form does count in a selection.

well for rm 30...it the shape is just slightly out, i think its a good deal for a bellina blue. anyway beauty is in the eye of the beholder HAPPY ORCHID HUNTING

Yew thanks for sharing these photos... the one that caught my attention is the V. Genting Delight. I started with Vandas and has since shifted into other genus primarily because of
lack of space... but boy I dont mind making more space for this one.... heck I might even
throw out some just to make space for it.

I'm going to see the vendor and hopefully get one. By the way this one is not a meristem but grown from a seedling. I just hope there are some from the same batch that might look just as good.

And thanks to everyone who looked in and posted their comments.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone . Yew Sung.

Asked around and found out that it is actually Paph Shireen (philippinense x glaucophyllum ). Thanks for giving me a couple of sleepless nights until I met an official from the show who ID it......

    Default Phalaenopsis

    Mabuhay!

    Merry Christmas to all!

@cattan : thank you for sharing pics of the show. It really is all very inspiring.

for those residing in the Philippines :
with regards to the first pic that has phalaenopsis on, i sometimes see these kind of phals in some plant stores particularly in my area called Baclaran. I would just like to ask if these can be grown in Cavite? Or does anyone growing it in Manila? I am quite hesitant to buy a specimen since my gut is telling me that unless i live in Baguio or Tagaytay that's the only time i can have them.

I thank you in advance for any response.

    Godbless

Yesterday, I was talking with the vendor who sold the plant to the exhibitor, ( yes, the orchid show circuit has just moved to my town, which is 60 miles from Penang, and all the vendors have moved their stalls to our town ),and asked him if it was a mericlone. He told me that it was not and it was the best plant from a batch of seedlings that he bloomed in his nursery.

Will be posting some pictures of the orchids at our show after the Xmas holidays.
