This one suprised me this morning...when I went out to take pics of the vanda in bloom I found this Zygo. had popped a bloom open as well. The petals and sepals are unusually pale this blooming. I am just in love with this delicate color! The lip is still it's usual vibrant royal purple...looks like plush velvet to me. So this must be the winter color. I do like the flowers that change their colors in the winter.

it certainly has some zygopetalum "flare" in that lip doesn't it! i love orchids with indigo colouration in them, i just fall in love!
What a sight to start the day! Please post when it's in full bloom. Should be awesome.
Lovely! Mine is also in bud and about to open. Hope it has the beautiful coloration of yours.
Great photography Connie. That first shot especially shows why its named 'Blue Birds'. I also notice how clean and free of black spotting your Zygo leaves are. When I purchased my Zygopetalum three or four years back, it came with plenty of black spots and though I can control them some what, I do not think I will ever get rid of them entirely. Nice plant/ nice show.
Very pretty Connie. Thanks for sharing.
I love this plant and appreciate you noticing those lovely leaves. I do not know why it likes my care, but this is one of my favorites. So many of the pleated leaved orchids seem to attract bugs here. I'm just tickled this one thrives and blooms. I treat it like a phal and so far so good...
i just saw it connie, its b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l !!!
it looks much more vibrant than this one, but this one is still quite fantastic!
good work!
