That is great info, Al. Because you're at 5400 ft. the air is much less dense, and your orchids will "burn" much more easily. I am at 500 ft, and use only a 40% shade cloth in the Summer. Right now, there is no shade cloth on my greenhouse, but it is partly shaded, and the phals are inside. Because I am a "hobby" grower, I can and do observe my orchids everyday.That gives me the ability to stop potential problems in their tracks. I also limit myself as to how many orchids I can REALLY take good care of on an ongoing basis...This is just a little of what I do in my little orchid nich of the world. I'm sure that every other place is different...Betty :-)
