Bruce, I'll definitely take one of those bumper stickers when they become available.

Bruce, I'll definitely take one of those bumper stickers when they become available.
im sure that most of my friends and family think im crazy and obsessed being a 26 year old man, hardcore athelete/outdoorsman having a hobby such as this. however most of my hobbies are of the eccentric type anyways(orchids, bonsai, magic the gathering card collector, etc etc). i guess life is too short to follow the mainstream or the typical persona that fits my age group. i guess i wanted something more fulfilling than "going to the bar" every night with my friends.
My kids left home years ago and are pretty well resigned to my obsessions. My grand-kids have always thought (known) Grandad was just a little bit crazy. Mrs. Sarra is just hoping that I stop bringing insectivores into the house and bring orchids instead (she hasn't yet twigged that there is room for both - nearly). My friends humor me and one is even bringing me one back from a foreign visit. It's great to be (nearly) old.
My family thinks it's fine. If anyone ever has something to say about it I just tell them, "there are worse things to be addicted to"
My husband thinks I'm obssessed and he thinks plants don"t belong in the house. My children don't care one way or another.
my family member and friend always asked me when they dropped by my place "OMG, are running a mini nursery here?" and also those same words "where are the flowers?". i was thinking, "oh man, those are catasetums dude....they don't flower all year round." and out of a sudden, some would yell "OH NOOOOO....something is wrong with your orchids, the leaves are turning yellow and some are dead!! (totally no leaves with those fat pseudobulbs there ) so i had explain to them most of the time the decidous nature of catasetums. and finally when they flower (the moment of glory), WOW...these are gorgeous, or WOW, they looked like plastic flowers or mmmm...this one looks like the mercedes logo (ctsm callosum) and so on,,,,,,,
BUT BRUCE, TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU ON THE "life's is too short to grow cheap orchids)
Getting full support here. Never allowed my husband to buy me flowers before, so he is loving that he finally can! The kids even enjoy helping me pick them out.
