An interesting species native to Philippines, Macropodanthus cootesii.

Geoff, you are right it's an monopodial orchid. This species called in the past Macropodanthus philippinensis, but is renamed to cootesi. I think in IOSPE exist already a pictures of this species but even as Macr. philippinensis.
Macropodanthus philippinensis and Macropodanthus cootesii are very different species.
Macropodanthus cootesii was only described in December 2010, by Dr. George Tiong, in the German journal Die Orchidee.
The differences between the 2 species are explained there.
Bruce can you please correct the spelling of the specific epithet to cootesii (double i) please?

Weird looking , pretty how long the flower may last? I love the anther maybe one of the longest I ever seen in orchids genera.

i was blown away, when i first saw Macropodanthus sp. in the wild.
this i believe is the macropodanthus philippinensis please correct me if im wrong and sorry about the photo quality. i should get myself a macro lens.
