Who could not be a Cymbidium fan? I think the problem most of us have who don't grow them is being able to provide the right conditions for blooming and having enough growing space. That's a beauty you have there. Good growing!

I know that there aren't many cymbidium fans around, but I wanted to share this one since it is my first. Two spikes bloomed, one in bud, and two more on the way. Its in a gallon pot. It was an awesome deal at twenty bucks!

I agree---beautiful choice and who could not love cymbidiums. Just wish they were easier to bloom and didn't take up so much space. I have two that I bought last year on sale. They are growing great and I did everything I read to do but still no spikes. A couple eyes sweeling but think they are new growths. Good luck with yours.
I love Cymbidiums. And Dendrobiums. And Phalaenopsis. And Zygopetalum. And Oncidium...... That's a very handsome flower. I have several, but only one old enough to say that it's reblooming is my doing. It is getting closer and closer every day. You have a beautiful flower there. I think it should do OK in Sonoma County. I think....
20 bucks, huh? You SCORED BIG! Nice blooming. Thanks for sharing!
I'll be posting some cym shots soon, I have several in bud right now.
Best to you,
Remo
Love the pastel colour on this cym. Really love cymbidiums but very difficult to find the warm tolerant types here.
Awesome blooms ! We are all cym fans here, just that we do not have the right conditions to bloom these beautiful plants ! You are lucky !
I suppose that I jumped to conclusions! I never considered that few people grew them because of space/climate issues...I guess I am lucky. It is never really hot here other than maybe a week or two in summer. Even then, the nights are really cool and foggy. Thanks for surprising me! Look forward to seeing yours, Remo.
Nah, Cymbidiums are ugly. That's why I think I only have 300++. That will definitely be on my wishlist. Thanks for sharing
HI, Jason,
Yeah, cyms do take up a bit of room! I'm partial to the cascading type and you can mount them on fences, hang them up, etc to get a little better use of your space. Here is one which has been teasing me for about 6 weeks and has just now started opening. Enjoy!
