Thumbs down Paph. esquirolei.. It ain't

I got this one at the Springfield show , it had just the start of a bud so I can't take credit for the blooms . I took several pictures, this is as close as I could get to the actual color. some were to dark and some to light it does have a yellow cast to the petals . Gin

I'll be this is the 2nd plant from this grower that has a wrong tag buying a NOID. is one thing ,that is if you know it . I am going to email them it won't do any good but I will feel better, that is the last of the $$$ they will see from me . I will be tactful in my own way .

Boy Gin (and PLEASE don't think I'm calling you a boy!!!),

I wonder if this guy was mislabeled. I'll defer to the paph giants in the forum, but to my knowledge, esquirolei is a var of paph. hirsutissianum (and this guy sure ain't that!)

This looks much more like a paph. philippinense hybird to me.

    Help, anyone?

Still, it's a darned handsome flower. I like the heavy spotting on the petals (Jason's right - that could be lowii) and their length. It's a keeper, even if it is a NOID.

So....have you contacted the grower? I don't know of any reputable growers that wouldn't make this right especially since you just bought the plant.

Did you report your first mislabeled plant? Did the grower come through?

I sent a polite e mail with the picture this am . I don't expect to hear back from them .They will get just advertising at the next club meeting if I don't get a ... We will fix the problem or a get lost . I did not do anything about the first one . Mistakes happen but should not happen 2 times . Gin

that is not acceptable. there are only two things a vendor is responsible for in a plant: health and identity. it can bloom out a dog but it better be pest free and as advertised. if i were you, i would demand a reply and state in no uncertain terms that, if they want to continue to cheat people of their money, everybody you know in real life and in a half dozen online forums will know they are scam artists. if they still don't reply, well, i hope you tell everyone who they are.
