I got a good sized healthy dend x delicatum in the fall last year. It started spiking a few weeks back. The spikes are still fairly young. I was checking up on it yesterday and found two new canes had started to grow. At no point has this plant stopped throwing out new roots. Is it abnormal for this particular dend to simultaneously spike and grow new canes? I was under the impression that it would have a nice long winter rest, then flower, then grow new canes.
Must have had a good winters rest previously..lol.....Its got be a happy plant if anything...or it thinks its dieing...lol you never really know do you but ive experienced this with other dendrobiums and also Phalaenopsis but with leaves......it could just mean your in for a long winters rest after this coming glucose fest.......bahaha im sillly...dont worry be happy they do what they do
