Beautiful Bruce and what a blast of color! I am rather excited because my Oncda. Charlesworthii 'Mishima' has deveoped at least two spikes on new growths. Will post when it blooms, but I am hopeful that on a orchid this healthy looking, the colors should be as vivid as yours. AL

Its available for sale here in the states from nurseries in Hawaii and elsewhere. I certainly don't think its uncommon. I have read where it is supposed to be raised cool/intermediate temperatures, but I have raised mine warm, no problem. I hope someone from New Zealand can tell you more about its availability near you versus considering the expense and hassle of possible import. Tell me Jordan is it easier to import/export to Australia? I ask because I could easily see there would be a much larger orchid market there. The best of luck. AL

to be honest, i have i have ordered a flask or two, but from my inexperience in raising from flasks, i killed both lots
Anything sterile is fine. no permits or anything. and i think you can import plants, as long as they arnt on the endangered species list or are certified disease and pest free. then its quarintine for 4 months, with daily checkups from the buyer.

New clone to me , but the grex I know well and have often had in my collection. Quite a distinct colour ( distinctfrom the ones I recall) . Do you know where the varietal name comes from, I wonder ? Sounds Japanese.

This one looks exactly like the one I purchased back in May, however, my blooms started wilting after only having it a couple weeks. I found out through some research that it was dehydrated when I bought it (I had no idea). Yours is so beautiful! What type of medium are you using?

Not sure, Geoff. I would also guess it was Japanese.

I have mine growing in a medium redwood bark, charcoal, sponge rock, and coconut husk mix that we make here. If yours was dehydrated, better check the roots. It may have been over watered and have root loss. It could also need a repot if it is new. Most orchids come from vendors in sphagnum moss. This is really not suitable for most home growers because it retains so much water. Orchid roots need air. Hope yours is alright. (Welcome to OrchidTalk, BTW. )

    Cheers,
    BD
