Chances of this happening are very very slim, rather almost impossible, but the bulb can form a new spike from another dormant bud, if you are lucky enough.

i was forced to cut away half the spike of this catasetum as the distal half of the spike suddenly dried off, dunno what happens but this pot is the healthiest catasetum i am having so far.
just wondering anyone had any experience with broken catasetum spike that re bloom, like those phalenopsis spike does when it is broken midway.

thanks Amey. gosh, was really waiting for this bloom, very eager to see what species of catasetum this is. Saw the flower during bloom at the nursery, suspect is a ctsm integerrimum but not enough experience to identify on the spot. Was so thrilled initially when it started a spike but i guess i just got to pray hard for a next spike. thanks for the feedback, really appreciated.
