I saw this at a nursery. The flowers are huge! Although I cannot afford this particular pot in the picture, I did carry a smaller pot home without flowers.
Bulbophyllum fascinator var hempaliana

Wow! That is huge. Hope yours will be like this one too. Thanks for sharing, Vincent.
i think we all know the "dang i want the bigger plant" vs the budget issue lovely blooms! now you can say they are yours when they do flower for you
Thanks for sharing Vincent, I'm sure yours will be this big in a matter of time. I think Bulbo. fascinator has got to be one of the most unique orchid blooms.
Thanks everyone, I hope mine gets more showy than this fella here
Beautiful bulbo, Vincent! WOW.
Cheers,
BD
Vincent, the name Bulbophyllum fascinator var. hempaliana is a nomen nudum, that is, it's never been validly published before. The varietal name was coined, I don't know who gave it varietal status, by Georg Hampel.
Below are photos I have taken of my plant:
Thanks, obviously by Mr Hampel.
Out of curiousity, I think there are at least 4 varietal names running around...
hampeliana, corazone, alba and semi-alba, so hampeliana is not validly described, so what about the rest?
Cheers
Vincent
i never get tired of those, good luck with your plant Vincent!
