Stunning Yew...congrats very intense color.
Yew Sung,
Congratulation, This is a very good Cattlianthe Dandee Fireworks.
I registered this hybrid and gave it a name.
I am curious about how did you get the hybrid name?
And how did you get the clonal name?
Did you get it from an other website, from the hybridizer or did you gave this clonal name to your plant?
This is so beautiful - I love the red in the orange. I think it gives it a more majestic look than a softer or brighter orange.
I think it's so neat that Horst gets to see one of his creations doing well out there! Congratulations to you, too, Horst, on your good work.
Stunning! I certainly hope to be as successful one day. Truly amazing.
Thanks Horst. I get my plants mostly from a vendor who has a stall in our weekly farmers' market ,He in turn gets his plants from Thailand and he has a book and some magazines and assorted catalogues, and points out the pictures of the flowers with the names . That's how I got the name of this particular orchid. For all I know this name may not be valid. Do you think this is Dandee Fireworks? BTW 'Skyburst' was the varietal name that i saw printed in his pamphlet.
It's interesting how the orchid business elsewhere works.
The hybrid was registered in Nov. 2009. Shortly after I published the image of Cattlianthe Dandee Fireworks 'Skyburst' in Dec. 2009
Yew Sung's flower is very similar in color and shape. Although the lip is totally different.
I would say we look at a 10% chance that it is Rtt. Dandee Fireworks with inverted parents. And why it is with a 90% chance an other hybrid?
Because the vendor used also the clonal name to sell it. He found the image of my Skyburst on the net and for some reason, probably because it looks similar, he adopted the name for his plant. It is very unlikely that he checked the hybrid name on the RHS website and at the same time came up with Skyburst as the clonal name for his plant.
For reference I'm attaching the image, published in Dec. 2009.
Thank you Horst. I remember that the picture I saw was exactly like the one in my picture. So now I know this is not Dandee Fireworks and will have to change the tag to NOID. I have another 2 paphiopedilums from the same vendor - at least he just said they were niveum crosses - no pictures , no names, and that they came from Taiwan via Thailand........if he can be believed.
BTW Your Dandee Fireworks 'Skyburst' is gorgeous.
Now that we have agreed upon that it is not Dandee fireworks, can I suggest one name, I came across a plant on a vendors website and it looked quite a lot like this one the name is Lc. Netrasiri Starbright, so I did a search and guess what I found a link from our very own OT that shows a Pot. Netrasiri starbright ''Orange delight'' which matches this flower pretty well. There are also many other clones if this variety which might be good to look at, here is the link to the post.
