Beta 1 (Gilda, a beta version of software is still considered "not ready or stable enough for general public consumption) was just released a few hours ago. I'm going to set it up and explore it a little bit; when I think it's ready, I'll post a link here to the test board in case anyone wants to try it out and put it through its paces.

As bugs are found and fixed, they'll be releasing new betas and I'll update the test board as appropriate.

If anyone has any input or feedback on the new version, just post in the "Using the Boards" forum there so things don't get confused.

Couple of things:

Default avatars and smilies have not been loaded in yet.

There is no spellcheck.



Try replying to a few things, changing your options, start new threads, etc.

Try not reading a post, log out, log back in. It should still be marked as unread.

Anyway, if you have some time and want to leave feedback there, that would be great and much appreciated.

Was back and forth with a vB developer all afternoon, and a file got munged.

Cool Gin, thanks for trying it out.

The bug reports have been coming in hot and heavy over at vB for this version; no one major thing but lots of piddly, irritating stuff they're getting fixed within 30 minutes or so of being notified. Assuming this is how it's going to go, once all of that has been updated and Beta 2 is released, I think I'm going to upgrade OrchidTalk to the new version. We'll see how it goes.
