This is Den Dawn Maree x Den formosum, a back cross of Dawn Maree with one its parents. It looks very much like Dawn Maree but the flowers are slightly bigger and the lateral petals wider and fuller like Den formosum. Flowers of Dawn Maree type crosses are very long lasting- weeks and months- earning them the name 'Everlasting orchids'. They are very easy to grow and adaptable to intermediate to warm conditions.
This is a selected plant from those blooming in a friend's nursery. I chose this one because of the intense colour in the lip. This is a rebloom in my place from the new mature cane.

Very nice, Yew Sung... what do you have this potted in? In my experience, Dawn Maree types do not like charcoal under my conditions. I have no idea why that is so, but they always grow better in cocohusk or cocopeat.
Very nice, Yew. The intense lip color shows up well against that pristine white.
Wow!! That is one very intense red lip. Never been successful in growing this. Any tips Yew?
Selamat Hari Raya, Mazlan. I've just been growing them for about 2 years and have not repotted them from their original medium - charcoal medium for the plants from Perlis and coconut husks for the plants from Thailand. As I have mentioned the Green Lantern growing in charcoal has died from root rot but the plants from Thailand in cocohusk and in slatted plastic pots seem to be OK so far. BTW the ones in charcoal are potted in normal clay pots - may be the reason for the demise of Green Lantern. Growing conditions are the same as for all my orchids.
Superb bloom. Simply stunning. Great job, Yew Sung.
Beautiful colors on this one!
Very nice, full blooms Yew. These as Bruce says have 'flash' with a touch of elegance also I think. AL
