BTW - Phillip wasn't referring to our nursery housing a bunch of nasty old felines..... I think there IS an observable difference when they aren't taken care of.....

Maybe 'neglected' is a better choice of words for those old specimens

Some very nice plants there. Thanks for "taking us along" ladies! Beautiful flower on that Phal. gigantea.

Pat, you could always keep your NOID vandas to experiment on in case you wanted to play around with different aspects of culture.

Maura trying to restore these old Cattleya's to full health and vigor sounds like a lot of patience and work. Beyond that is the sinking feeling it may be for naught. Your a brave soul to do this (maybe more than you know). I wish you much luck and if I could cast a spell to make these orchids thrive I would do it. AL

It can be challenging some times when you find the very old ones because often they have not received the best care. It is kind of surprising because you would think the most valuable would receive the best care. It can take a while to bring them back but it is certainly worth it. I like soaking in weak Superthrive or something like it to stimulate root growth. If they have any new eyes (growths) they usually can be saved.

Hi everyone, I loved the Phals. Does anyone know the name of the last yellow Phal hybrid on your photos? It's so pretty...
