I was just out poking around at the stanhopea embreei that I have been wanting to rebasket and found something emerging from an older pseudobulb. It is still too small to be sure of its identity, but is certainly pointing downward. I first thought it to be a new growth because it is on the older part of the plant. Don't these only bloom on the newest growth? I'll be thrilled for it to be a growth OR a spike. We've just had a bit of a cool spell here and so I let it go a bit drier...now it's warming up again. PS...I won't be rebasketing considering the great roots I found while poking about!

The growth in question is coming from the bottom of the pseudobulb whose leaf is angled towards the camera.
