My hubby just bought me a lovely new orchid (label says it's a bromeliad, but it looks just like my phals) and it has been overwatered at the store. Most of the roots look perfect (green/grey/firm) but a few have squishy brown/black tips. Leaves are firm, 15 blooms. I cut off the black sqishy tips and left the clear holey pot sitting out to drain, put something in the bottom of the decorative pot to keep the roots out of any retained water (they were sitting in 1/4 inch of water)... Now what? Repot? Looks like a bark based medium but I saw some springy green moss....

Oops, it IS a phal. I guess the manufacturer labelled it incorrectly.
