If all of the tips are brown and crispy it might be due to over fertilizer. It would be better if you could post some pictures.

I have 3 phals that I got in June, I am a total newbie. Gave them too much sun. Each has 1 crispy tipped leaf. I am pretty sure they were sunburned.... I moved them and they look like they are happier- do I trim the crispy tips off or let them be?

Yes, if you can post a photo, it will be easier to help you with your orchid issue. I would guess fertilizer burn also.
cheers,
BD
If it's just the tips of the leaves it isn't sunburn.
Hmmm. I have been trying to post pictures but have been unsuccessful so far... Honestly, I haven't fertilized them at all since I got them... (uneducated Momma I have been!) it is only 1 leaf per plant. I will keep trying on the pic posting.
