As for feeding "weakly-weekly" is used by many commercial growers but as 1/4 to 1/8 normal dose. Lovely blooms!

I successfully caught snails with fresh potato slices on the medium. I checked the slices several times a day and I caught some everytime. Snails are active after watering when the medium is moist. That's when you get them. Good luck! Lovely Sharry Baby! I can't wait to have mine in bloom for the first time.

Thanks Jonada for your info....I always flush my orchids once every 4th watering...i was told ages ago some certain orchids do not like light going to their roots so have to use clay or none clear pots.... and others like light like Phals and so on..and use clear for them...

Hello Jose...thanks for your nice post, yes maybe it was little to much sun i have moved it of my windowcil ..the thing is the yellow bits on the leaves are from the bulb that these snails eat smallish holes into...maybe this bulb did not recover very well.....

Hi Matt...My snails came with the orchid when i brought it ....loads of tiny ones all in the mix...got rid of them and cleaned and repotted....one bulb had two holes which the snails did one was big...seems on this bulb the leaves what have yellow on comes from this bulb....One day i might plant one orchid on bark and watch it grow ...be nice to have one grow natually....Thanks again for always posting always a pleasure to read them

Clear pots are certainly an advantage, but i cannot talk or comment on pot culture as I kill all orchids this way. Only plants in pots are jungle cacti, heliconias and epiphyllums amongst others but this is soley due to the science fact that orchid roots need air circulation bar the few exceptions of terrestrials.

P.s Purchased this very plant again!!! today from our local garden center reduced section, but not so many buds. Will soon remove spike as flowers fade. Gorgeous large plump pseudobulbs! My personal pre emptive strike with this one will be to mount it at an angle, have had far too many casualties as a result of crown rot with these multi bracts and open leaf axils. The last went into a very quick decline in the pot within a fortnight and is now a leafless victim tied to bark in my hospital zone awaiting the trigger to grow on. Should have dealt with it straight away knowing full well that because I do 90% of my watering via spraying due to mounted culture an 'epiphyte' sitting upright in a pot is not good in my hands even with air circulation.[/QUOTE]
