For the past 30 days senior members of the forum have participated in a ballot to select the member they felt best represented the spirit of our community. And now, the winner of the 2011 OrchidTalk Member of the Year - with 35% of the total votes, I proudly announce that Yew Sung (Catttan) is our Member of the Year for 2011.

We were so pleased to learn that you had been chosen Member of the Year, Yew! Even though it was a field of impressive candidates, we personally felt that you were the clear choice. Your kindness, support, enthusiasm, and sincere interest in helping the newer members who have more questions than a 5 year-old has been astonishing. I don't know how you keep up with it all! Your sense of responsibility to the OT Forum and its spirit is inspiring, and sets a clear example for the rest of us to follow. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

In addition to all your more public work on OT, you have been essential in helping us get through this most recent health scare - your caring made an enormous difference, especially when I was home alone while Phillip was on the ventilator. Thank you for that.

If anyone here (and there are certainly more than a few) has inspired me to keep my perspective and refuse to give up on these beautiful and strange plants, you are tops among them.

We loved reading your interview - your perspective on life, and life with orchids, is instructive and fascinating - and the pictures of you and your family are wonderful! How proud you must be! (Remember that my offer to have you adopt me as a distant niece is still open...)

We know the prize money isn't a whole lot, but we'd love to know what you choose to buy with it.
