    Red face Growing Dendrobiums Semi-hydroponically.

Hello everyone. I have purchased my first three Dendrobiums yesterday. Two of them were on their way out of bloom and the third was fully bloomed. Got them cheap too.

Has anyone had any experience growing Dendrobiums semi hydroponically? Also, how well do they grow in a coarse bark mix

Also, is there anything special that I need to know about Dendrobiums? I researched and found some conflicting information. For example, one source says that they like two hours of indirect light, and another source says that they like bright light in front of a window but not direct sunlight. One source says they require heavy watering, and another says that like to breath.

Any information you have would be helpful.

By the way, two of them are Dendrobium Burana Fancy and Thongchai Gold.

The other I am not quite sure. The tag may still be down in the medium.

Thanks for your time and comments everyone.

Hey, I live like 10 degrees from the equator and I have dendros like urs I may have ur 2 somewhere about....and they get almost 30 percent shade and our sun is hell like and shines all day..I have grown in an easterly facing direction under eaves where direct sun was had from 6am to about 11.30am and floriferous as hell...I do not kno about semi hydro as I have no experience with it..I'm a bit skeptical about it maybe until I try it...

I've never tried a Dendrobium in SH either. I've got a few Oncidium hybrids in SH and it works well. Perhaps I try a Dendrobium as well (but one that doesn't need a winter rest).

Thank you both for answering. I put both of my Dendrobiums in SH, so I'll see how that works. I'm not sure if mine need winter rest or not. Guess I will have to see.
