    Default Phaius tankervilliae

    is opening now. 25 spikes this year. Not too many (last year were 21 or 23), but still... It grows like a weed 24/7 outside without any special care.

    The plant is really huge. I cannot take it to any orchid show. Anyway, I do love this monster.
    A nice addition to my porch.

    Yes, it is.
    I bought the plant in January, 2008

    First blooming, March 2008

    in one year (February, 2009) - 15 spikes



    October, 2009 (still in 1' pot. Bourbon is 1,75 L)

    Phaius did overgrow the pot in 2009, so I had to repot it.

    March, 2010 (only 17 spikes, but the plant produced 3 seed capsules a year before)
