Great job, Jonada! I love a good repurposing project, especially if it involves orchids. Your orchids are going to love summering outside.

Ok, Guys, hope I did this right. This is my new $20.00 shade house. This will be the first year that I try growing them outside. I took the frame from our old motorcycle "shed". The cover had rotted but the frame was fine.
We had a bunch of rough sawed white oak boards and left over wire from when the property was fenced to keep the dogs in. I milled the boards down to what I needed and got to work on the benches.
Then started to fit them in place.
Finally added the shade cloth that a good friend of mine gave me. It was a huge piece that I cut down to fit my needs.
The structure sits with the open ends N and S. The west side will get additional shade in the late afternoon due to a row of huge pine trees just across the property line. I put 2 layers of weed cloth on the ground and a third layer over the walk way in the middle. We had that left over from a previous project. It has 4 earth anchors keeping it solidly on the ground. I still plan to put "curtain" doors on the ends for times when I want to try and trap a bit of heat or can open them for the extra breeze. I am also going to string a wire above the benches to hang my mounts from. I had to purchase screws and drill bits only.
So, what do you all think?

Thanks, Kassie. I hope so!
That's very ingenious. Well done!
Thanks, Yew. I have learned to work with what is available to have what I want.
I am impressed Jonada. The 'chids' are going to love their summer 'vacation' home. AL
Thanks, Al. I sure hope they do.
Wow, Jonada - I'm in awe of you. I've developed a few tool and carpentry skills over the years (mostly because I had an ex-husband who was clueless when it came to home repairs), but I doubt I could do what you've done. Is the photo of you with your best little helper?
As I've said in another thread, I have to rig up some sort of shade area on my tiny deck if I want to put some of my orchids out to compete for space with Phillip's bonsais (and my one little pre-bonsai tree). I'm scheming, though, pondering and scheming....
Well done Jonada ! That looks very cosy for any orchid ! Good luck with it, and do keep us updated when the orchid space fills out.
Yes Maura, that is me and my best little helper. PM me if you have any questions on your shade area.
Thanks, Amey. I was going to start taking a few outside for just days today, but the temp is a high of 41 today. More like what our normal temps should be, but after this early look at spring, brrrr.
