Default The problem with phals in wood baskets

I planted three keikies in this wood basket with just some tree fern chunks. They do fine as long as I water every day. Unfortunately I missed a couple of days and more than half the buds turned yellow and fell off. I watered in time to save a few buds and now they've opened. Phals definately need water when in bud.

Sad that you lost some flowers on this one, but the display is still awesome, I simply love baskets, but it is too much work to water plants twice a day if you plant them in baskets in tropics, but some day ....

You for sure have to water sometimes up to 3 times a day with our tropical weather in the late spring, summer and into fall. I have decided to try and rid myself of all wooden baskets. I find them to be thrip magnets.
jeff lovely display even if you are missing a few blooms.

The display is awesome. I wonder if you could add some moss or coconut husk to the mix in the basked to help hold moisture a bit longer. Beautiful photo!

    cheers,
