    Default Question?

You know how Phals that have much purple/red in the flowers get reddish/purplish highlights in the leaves. Well I hope this is not too of a question, but do the Phals with very orange flowers get very orange leaves?
    It would seem logical...

I just got two Phals that are supposed to have orange blooms, and the leaves are VERY orange and I haven't seen this before.

    Thanks

Oh well, I guess the plants are fine. I guess it was a silly concern.

i don't grow much in the way of phals, but that sounds interesting. got a pic? the reds on plants are from anthocyanin pigment and in most cases (phals, catts), the amount of red is associated in part with the light level. high light, high pigment (protective against the UV I think). pure alba plants that cannot make anthocyanins will not develop the red.

all that as opposed to vini paphs, where the amount of red on the leaves is often a very good indicator of flower color.

Since they have been at my house, they are hardly orange anymore! It has only been a week! Weird, but goes along with what you are saying. I should have taken pictures at their peak of orange because I had never seen Phal leaves that color.
